A Developer's story |
The year was 1954. Atlantic City, the popular family resort, drew thousands to its shores during the season. Local residents enjoyed the hustle and bustle during the summer months and the relative calm in winter. Most people lived on Absecon Island.
It was at that time an aspiring developer made a daring move, purchasing land in an offshore community called Northfield. Even then, Max Gurwicz and his son, Edward, foresaw the spiraling growth from Absecon Island to the Mainland. They had already started building in Pleasantville, NJ, another offshore community, and saw promise in neighboring towns. The Northfield property soon became Ridgewood Estates, a grand community filled with the area's first state-of-the-art residences, drawing families from the island to the mainland. Max Gurwicz & Son, Inc., builder and developer, had made its first mark in Southern New Jersey.
With their first success behind them, Max & Edward built their first motel in 1959. Located in Atlantic City, the Caribe Motel attracted tourists to this family resort area. It was the first of many motels and over a thousand rooms for Max Gurwicz & Son.
With each new enterprise, Max Gurwicz & Son's reputation grew. People quickly learned the company provided uncompromised quality, comfort and luxury at affordable prices. Today, Edward and his two sons Joseph and Mitchell, oversee the continuing development of low and high-rise condominiums, townhouses, single family home communities, apartments, hotels, shopping centers and much, much more.
In recent years the company has been very focused on several acclaimed residential developments and commercial projects. Among these projects are the Harbor Pines Golf Club and Estates, the London Court II Luxury Townhomes, the Ocean Terrace Condominiums and the Tilton and London Square Mall Shopping Centers, just to name a few. A complete list of current and past projects can be found in the Company Resume.
Commitment to quality, being accountable, staying local and always accessible; these are the ingredients Max Gurwicz & Son, Inc. believe make for a successful project. They are also the reasons why more and more people in South Jersey find themselves living in a Gurwicz built home, and why several successful commercial endeavors in and around the Atlantic City area are somehow linked to Max Gurwicz & Son, Inc.
